Welcome to ETEC !

ETEC is the department "Electric Engineering and Energy Technology" and is part of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. ETEC's primary field of action is Electrical engineering, encompassing all applications of electrical energy in our society:

• Electrical machines, electric drives and power electronics
• Electric traction, transport technology and environmentally friendly vehicles
• Electric lighting
• Numerical applications in electrochemistry
• Electric installations, production and distribution of electricity

The role of electricity in our society is illustrated by the allegorical figure above, showing three main application fields of electricity: data processing, lighting and drive power.
